This is the combination of clinching and riveting. A simple, symmetrical ClinchRivet® is used as the joining element to produce a clinch connection with higher strength values than those obtained with a pierce rivet and without cutting the material. Riveting with a solid punch rivet - that means piercing and inserting within one stroke - is used in many products. Whether in radiator-supports in trucks, window-lifters in cars, telescopic slides, parts for sunroofs the strong connection with rivets is used. Riveting with semi-hollow rivets

Semi-hollow rivets are the best way to join different materials. Only premise is that there is a formable material on the die-side.
